Affirmation Cards

Motivation and support found in a little box <3

I personally use affirmation cards and I really recognized their value when I was going through a tough time and picking a card when I needed encouragement really helped to keep up my motivation. Therefore, I decided that I want to design my own affirmation cards as well.

About the project

Affirmations work scientifically by leveraging neuroplasticity to rewire the brain’s neural pathways, reducing the impact of negative thoughts and stress while promoting positive behavior.

A lot of affirmations leverage people's belief in a higher power, and relate to the Universe as being sentient. This is what inspired the visuals for these cards

My first visual direction was to go with abstract art: flowy lines, colorful, mixed media. I used watercolor, oil pastels and colored pencils to embody each affirmation on paper.

And I liked them, technically there was nothing wrong with them, but I chose to challenge myself to capture abstract meanings and affirmations in concrete illustrations.

Final deck

I used the theme of the universe to give my illustrations a dreamy magical dimension , with a repeating main character - the embodiment of the universe in a female form.
